The women return home on a 5 game win streak to face Providence in a home-and-home, while the men welcome Michigan for a pair at Agganis Arena
After successful road trips for both squads, the women (6-3-0, HEA: 4-1-0) set off on a home-and-home with the Providence Friars and the men (4-1-0, HEA: 1-0-0) welcome the Michigan Wolverines for a set at home.
Women’s
The first place Terriers play the Friars for their 3rd Hockey East series of the season (Nov. 1st at Agganis Arena, Nov. 2nd at Schneider Arena, both games at 3pm)
Providence
(5-3-0, HEA (6th) : 2-2-0)
The Friars come into the weekend off an upset win over Northeastern at home. However, Providence has had mixed results throughout October. After shutting out Saint Michael’s to open the season, they have been on a streak of L/W/L/W/L/W.
The Friars are led by a trio of Audrey Knapp, Reichen Kirchmair, and Hannah Johnson who have each recorded 8 points in 8 games, good enough for 4th among Hockey East skaters. On the other end of the ice, senior goalie Hope Walinski is 2nd in the conference in SV% (.938) and GAA (1.72), only behind the Terriers Callie Shanahan (.960/1.06).
The Scarlet and White enter the weekend on a 5 game winning streak—their longest since a 6 game win streak from Nov. 19th, 2019 through Jan. 4th 2020—and at the top of the Hockey East standings with 12 pts through 5 games.
Callie Shanahan continues to star in net, allowing 1 or fewer goals in all but 1 of her 6 starts this season. She is 6th nationally in SV% and 5th among goalies with 4+ starts in GAA.
The Terrier’s offense goes through freshman Lola Reid—the Hockey East leader in goals and points. Reid has recorded 4 of 6 game winning goals, which leads the nation. She also leads all freshman (with 5+ games played) in points per game at 1.22.
With the game on Friday, the Friars will tie the Maine Black Bears for the Terriers most frequently played opponent at Agganis Arena at 4.
