Week 4 Preview
Both Terrier squads are on the road, as the women head to Syracuse and the men head to Grand Forks, ND for a top 10 matchup
The Terriers both hit the road for import non-conference series. It will be the men’s (3-0-0) first road games of the young season and the women’s (4-3-0) second road trip after a visit to the Gophers in the second week of the season.
Women’s
The Scarlet and White head to Syracuse in their first true road game against the Orange (Oct 25th and Oct 26th, 6pm / 3pm).
Syracuse
(2-5-0, AHA: 0-0-0)
The Orange enter the weekend on a 5 game losing streak, include a 4-0 and 4-1 lose to #10 Quinnipiac on the road. The only wins so far for Syracuse have been two 4–0 wins at home vs. Stonehill to open the season. The team is led by former Terrier Jackson Kinsler with 2 goals and 2 assists in her first 7 games as a member of the Orange.
On a three game winning streak, the Terriers have help opponents to just 1 goal in that span, with shutouts of both Northeastern and Maine in that span. Callie Shanahan leads all Hockey East goaltenders with a .959 SV% and 1.07 GAA. Nationally, Shanahan is 5 among goalies with more than 1 GP in terms of save percentage and 7th in goals against average.
Lola Reid is 2nd nationally in points by a Freshman with 9, one behind national leaders Jordyn Petrie (Ohio State) and Eloise Caron (Northeastern). Reid is the conference leader in points in conference games with 7, ahead of Tamara Giaquinto, who his tied for 2nd with 5.
BU won their last game against the Orange 6-1, their first win over Syracuse after tieing their first two. Last time out vs. Syracuse, Sydney Healey scored two, with Luisa Welcke scoring the game winner on the power play in the 2nd. Clara Yuhn recorded 2 assists and Alex Law scored a goal in the effort.
This will be the Terriers first game vs. a team from the new Atlantic Hockey America. The conference was formed by the merger of the men’s only Atlantic Hockey and the women’s only College Hockey America conferences.

Men’s
BU heads out to North Dakota for a big series with the Fighting Hawks (Oct 25th and Oct 26th 8:07 PM / 7:07 PM ET), their first road trip of the season.
North Dakota
(2-1-0, NCHC 0-0-0)
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks welcome the Terriers to Ralph Engelstad Arena after splitting with Minnesota State 3-2 and 0-3 on the road. UND is led by senior Cameron Berg and freshman Sacha Boisvert, with each recording 4 points on the season. The Fighting Hawks feature T.J. Semptimphelter, a goalie who the Terriers are most familiar with for giving up a goal to Dylan Peterson in the third period of the 2022 Beanpot to secure BU their 31st Title.
BU comes in off a come from behind victory over the UConn Huskies at Agganis Arena. In a game where Brandon Svoboda and Tom Willander scored their first goals of the season and Cole Eiserman scored his first multi-goal game of the season.
This will be the Terriers first trip to North Dakota to face the Fighting Hawks since March 24th, 2017 when the teams faced off in the 2017 NCAA West Regional Semifinal at Sheels Arena in Fargo. A game in which Current Bruin Charlie McAvoy scored the game winner in Double OT with an assist from Current Utah Captain Clayton Keller to send the Terriers to the Regional Final.
UND and BU played a pair last season at Agganis Arena, with BU taking game one 3-2 and North Dakota taking the second 4-5 in OT. The second game featured Lane Hutson’s first and only hat trick as a Terrier. It was the first (and only) Terrier hat trick vs. UND since at least 2002-03.
