The Terriers completed a weekend sweep of the Maine Black Bears (2-1 and 2-0), their first and only series ever at Agganis Arena—and their only one scheduled this season. It was their 3rd and 4th games vs. the Black Bears at Agganis, their most played opponent at the arena. They now hold a 3-0-1 record vs. Maine at Agganis.
On Friday afternoon, the Scarlet and White dominated in nearly every aspect of the scoresheet outside the scoreline, though they did win the game 2-1. The Terriers out shot the Black Bears 38-15 and won a staggering 81.1 % of faceoffs (43-10). Freshman Lola Reid continued her streaking of scoring in a winning effort for the Terriers, scoring a goal in each of BU’s first 3 wins. Lilli Welcke scored her second goal of the season and her first career goal against her former team. She has now scored for BU against Maine and for Maine against BU (12/2/22, with two goals). Welcke also dominated on the dot, winning 15 of her 17 faceoffs.
On Saturday, a much closer game between BU and Maine, with shots on goal 26-23 BU and faceoffs 25-17 in favor of the Terriers. Callie Shanahan shined in net, stopping all of Maine’s 23 to earn her 2nd shutout in as many Saturdays. Shanahan becomes the 5th Terrier in program history to record 2 or more shutouts in multiple seasons—Allyse Wilcox, Corinne Schroeder, Kerrin Sperry, and Melissa Haber the others. Sydney Healey scored her second of the season in the first. Lola Reid picked up another two points with the primary assists on both of the Terriers goals, her 2nd multipoint game of the season.
Going into game two with the Black Bears, the Terriers were on a 21 power play opportunity goal drought. After 2 more power plays failed to lead to a goal, Captain Tamara Giaquinto end the 24 PPO drought with her 3rd power play goal of the season.
Lola Reid ends the weekend 2nd nationally in points by a Freshman with 9, one behind national leaders Jordyn Petrie (Ohio State) and Eloise Caron (Northeastern). Reid is the conference leader in points in conference games with 7, ahead of Tamara Giaquinto, who his tied for 2nd with 5. Giaquinto and Reid are two of only three players in the conference with three goals in league games. Coach Tara Watchorn improves to 4-1-0 vs. Maine, her most played opposition.

Men’s
Connecticut (4-2 W)
Cole Eiserman records his first multi-goal game of the season to lead the Terriers over the UConn Huskies with a score of 4-2 and put the BU in first place in Hockey East. Eiserman is the second Terrier since at least 2002-03 to score four goals in his first three collegiate games, the first since Shane Bowers in 2017-18 to do so. Brandon Svoboda and Tom Willander each scored their first of the season. Willander’s 3 points through 3 games equals his performance last season.
Three games in the Freshman class have made an immediate impact, with 61.5% of BU's goals coming from the first years. The Coles’—Eiserman and Hutson—5 goals so far this season is more than 13 teams (7 if you exclude the Ivys) in the NCAA have scored so far this season (Long Island, Merrimack, Michigan Tech, Quinnipiac, Army, Lake Superior, New Hampshire, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, Yale).
Goalie Mathieu Caron put in another solid effort, stopping 24 of UConn’s 26 shots on goal. Caron leads all Hockey East goalies (with 3 games played) with a .947 SV%.
Coach Jay Pandolfo recorded his 60th win as a head coach, the 3rd fastest in program history (83 Games Coached) to reach that milestone behind Jack Parker (74 GC) and Harry Cleverly (80 GC). Pandolfo is also the 2nd fastest coach to reach 30 wins at home (35 games coached) in program history, only behind Jack Parker who won all 30 of his first 30 home games.
