Week 2 Recap
On the women's side, BU-NU split the weekend, while the men put up 3 in the first period en route to a 4-1 win over Union
A double header sweep on Saturday wraps an eventful weekend for the Terrier squads.
Women’s
Northeastern (0-4 L, 0-4 W)

On Friday night the Terriers let up 4 goals including two within the span of a minute at the end of the 2nd period. Dropping the first night of matchup with the Huskies 4-0. The Terriers unfortunately extend their scoreless drought at Matthews vs. the Huskies to 341:14. On a positive note, BU went 6-6 on the PK, limiting NU to just 5 shots on the advantage. The Terriers also held the advantage at face-off dot, going 55.2%, led by Lilli Welcke winning 63.2% of her face-offs.
In the matinée of the Agganis double, the Terriers flipped the script and shut out the Huskies 4-0, their 2nd ever shutout at Agganis Arena (last: 11/19/2016 vs. Merrimack). The win ends their 12 game losing streak to Northeastern, their last win coming on October 8th, 2021 (2-1) at Walter Brown Arena. It was Tara Watchorn’s first win over the Huskies in her young coaching career. The Scarlet and White improve to 2-0 all-time vs. Northeastern at Agganis Arena, with their first win coming on January 28th, 2012 (3-2).
Four different Terriers scored: Freshman Lola Reid recorded her 2nd game winning goal of the season and her team leading 5th point, Riley Walsh and Clara Yuhn each recorded their 2nd goals of the season, and Sydney Healey scored her first.
For the second game in a row, the Terriers were perfect on the PK (3/3) and won the face-off battle, going 22 for 36 (61.1%) from the dot.
Callie Shanahan recorded the first shutout of the Huskies by a Terrier since Kerrin Sperry on December 7th 2010. That game featured goals by Terrier legends Marie-Philip Poulin and Jenn Wakefield, and also featured current coach Tara Watchorn who took a slashing penalty in the 2nd. Shanahan’s 25 save effort was the most in a shutout of the Huskies in program history.
Other Notes:
Lola Reid has recorded the game winning goal in both of the Terriers wins
Sixteen different Terriers have recorded points
Maeve Carey and Maeve Kelly have both recorded a point in two games. Both have only recorded a point in games where the other did.
Men’s
Union (4-1 W)

The Terriers closed out the double header with a 4-1 over the Union Garnet Chargers. Coach Jay Pandolfo earned his 59th win as the Terrier’s Head Coach, passing Albie O’Connell for 6th on the all-time list. The win was also Pandolfo’s 30th home win behind the bench for the Terriers.
Senior Mathieu Caron held strong, stopping all 17 of the Garnet Chargers shots in the first period to keep the Terriers in the game. Caron finished the game, stopping 36 of 37 (.973 SV%). It was his best performance against Union in his career—including his time at Brown—it was the first time he allowed less than 2 goals to the Garnet Chargers.
Co-Captain Shane Lachance opened the scoring with his first of the season, complementing co-captain Ryan Greene, who opened the scoring in the first game of the season. Alex Zetterberg recorded his 2nd goal in as many games, fellow Swede Tom Willander has an assist on both of his goals. Cole Eiserman recorded his 2nd power play goal of the season, both of which assisted by fellow Cole, Cole Hutson. Jack Harvey scored his first goal of the season in the 2nd period to return the Terriers lead back to 3, and giving freshman Kamil Bednarik and transfer Brehdan Engum their first points of their BU careers with assists on the goal.
Other Notes:
Quinn Hutson has 4 points through 2 games, in each of his first two seasons it took him 6 and 10 games, respectively to reach that point total
For the first time under Pandolfo, the Terriers have won their first two games of the season
