On Saturday, Minnesota again opened the scoring in the first. However, on this night, the Terriers were able to tie things up when Sydney Healey scored her first of the season and first against an WCHA opponent. In the second, Anežka Čabelová gave the Terriers the lead with her first in Scarlet and White. The teams went into the break with BU in the leading. In the third, the Gophers brought their firepower, scoring 4 unanswered goals to earn the victory. Michelle Pasiechnyk made her return to hockey, allowing 4 goals on 35 shots on Saturday.
BU improved on their penalty problems significantly, holding Minnesota to just 2:15 of PP time in which the Terriers allowed 0 shots on goal.

Men’s
LIU (4-2 W), RPI (3-0 W (ex))
The men opened their season like they’ve opened their previous 4 seasons with a win. Playing LIU for the first in program history, BU opened the score quickly. Cole Eiserman continued his power play goal prowess, scoring his 11th of his career at 5:54 of the first period. Despite the lead, LIU led the shots in the period 13-6 helped especially by BU’s 3 penalties in the period.
In the second, LIU tied things up at 2:30 in the period. Before NCHC Rookie of the Year and newcomer Sacha Boisvert gave the Terriers back the lead on the power play at 16:40 in the period. Boisvert also scored in his North Dakota debut last season, also scoring late in the 2nd in that game.
The Terriers extended their lead in the 3rd, when Cole Hutson joined in with his 15th career goal. Hutson’s goal was his 50th career point, becoming the fastest Terrier defenseman (40 games) to reach 50 pts since Dick Lamby in 1977, who did it in just 25 games. LIU got one back midway through the third at 13:38. However, it was not enough as Cole Eiserman restored their Terriers 2 goal lead with his second of the game and 20th goal at Agganis Arena. Boisvert recorded his first career 3 point game with an assist on both 3rd period Terrier goals.
Mikhail Yegorov was stellar, stopping 36 of 38 Sharks shots. The effort match his career high at Agganis Arena, when he also made 36 stops vs. UMass in the Hockey East Quarterfinal—coincidentally his last game at Agganis. The Terriers were a perfect 5-5 on the PK.
On Sunday, Max Lacroix made 21 saves to shutout RPI in the exhibition. It was the first exhibition shutout at Agganis Arena since October 7th, 2012 vs. Toronto (5-0 W). After a scoreless 1st, captain Gavin McCarthy put the Terriers on the board at 15:46 in the 2nd. Midway through the 3rd, freshman Jonathan Morello scored on the power play. Ryder Ritchie sealed things up with an empty net goal at 18:39. The Coles picked up 2 assists each, with Eiserman assisting on the 1st and 3rd goals and Hutson assisting on the 2nd and 3rd. Kamil Bednarik also picked up an assist on the 3rd goal. The Terriers took only 1 penalty in the game, a too many man infraction in the 2nd period.
Other Notes
Cole Eiserman and Cole Hutson scored in the same game for the 6th time and the 2nd straight season opener
The Terriers win their 4th straight “first game” vs. a new opponent and have one 6 of their last 7 of those contests
5 different Terriers recorded multipoint games, last season 5+ different Terriers recorded multipoint games 7 times
It was the first time since 2021-22 that a freshman did not score in the season opener and just the 3rd time since 2013-14 (2018-19 the other)
