The Battle Returns as the men face arch-rival Boston College as the women finally return home to Walter Brown Arena to face Holy Cross
Big games for both Terrier squads as the men (13-7-1, HEA (1st): 9-3-1) take on Boston College and the women (14-8-1, HEA (3rd): 11-4-1) face Holy Cross in their first game at Walter Brown Arena.
Women’s
After having to leave their home at Walter Brown Arena due to renovations, the Terriers return from their Agganis residency to face the Holy Cross Crusaders (January 25th, 4pm), the last team they played at Walter Brown Arena before the renovations. The two will face off at the Hart Center (January 24th, 6pm).
Holy Cross
(7-13-3, HEA (9th): 3-11-3)
The Terriers and Crusaders finish out their season series with a home and home. Last time out, BU shutout Holy Cross at the Hart Center 3-0 to open 2025 on January 3rd.
Since the two teams last faced off, the Crusaders have been winless with a shutout loss to Northeastern (0-4), getting swept at Providence (1-3, 0-1), and two shootout wins over Merrimack.
Holy Cross are led by sophomore forward Emily Crovo (6-10—16) and junior Alexia Moreau (5-6—11). In goal, the Crusaders have split duties between juniors Abby Hornug (17 GP, 2.01 GAA/.937 SV%) and Brooke Loranger (7 GP, 2.47 GAA/.912 SV%).
BU comes in on a two game losing streak, after getting shutout by UNH on Saturday (0-2) and Northeastern (0-4) in the Beanpot Championship game. The last time BU was shutout in back to back games was February 23rd and 24th against UConn (0-4, 0-1).
Last time out vs. Holy Cross, captain Tamara Giaquinto recorded her 6th career multipoint game and 2nd vs. Holy Cross. Christina Vote recorded her 1st goal of the season in that game.

Last time out vs. Holy Cross, Callie Shanahan recorded her 3rd shutout of the season. Shanahan joins Kerrin Sperry (2x), Melissa Haber (2x), Allyse Wilcox, and Corinne Schroeder as the only goaltenders in program history to record 3+ shutouts in a season. The 15 save effort was the fewest saves needed to record the shutout in her BU career.
Men’s
The B-Line Rivalry, the Green Line Rivalry, the Battle of Comm Ave, whatever you call it, it’s back in full swing this weekend as Boston University and Boston College face off in a home-(January 24th, 7pm, Agganis Arena)-and-home (January 25th, 7pm, Conte Forum)
Boston College
(16-4-1, HEA (2nd): 9-3-1)
The top two teams in Hockey East renew their ancient rivalry this weekend when the Terriers face the Boston College Eagles. The two Frozen Four finalists last faced off in the Hockey East title game, which was won by BC (2-6).
Both teams come into the series on 4 game winning streaks, most recently the Eagles beat Harvard (3-1) in a mid-week game and swept Providence College over the weekend (3-0, 4-1). BC’s leading goalscorer Ryan Leonard (15-7—22) scored in both games vs. the Friars. Leonard is tied for first in goals in Hockey East and 3rd nationally. Alongside Leonard, the Eagles are led by sophomore Gabe Perrault (8-20—28) and freshman James Hagens (6-19—25). In net, Jacob Fowler shines for the Eagles, his .934 SV% is top of Hockey East and his 1.70 GAA is 2nd among Hockey East goaltenders. Fowler’s 5 shutouts leads the nation.
Quinn Hutson and Ryan Greene lead all Terriers with 7 points against the Eagles, the only active Terriers with more than 2 points against their rivals. In last season’s Beanpot Semifinal between the two teams, Ryan Greene recorded the game winning goal to send the Terriers to the Beanpot Final.
