Record Breaking (Week 17 Recap)
Quinn Hutson and Cole Eiserman set Agganis Arena records in a win, while the women continue their Walter Brown winning streak
The women sweep the weekend, beating BC and UVM at home, while the men head into the Beanpot with a big win over New Hampshire.
Women’s
Boston College (3-2 W), Vermont (4-1 W)
On Friday night, the Terriers, dressed in their new “Speed Rhett” throwbacks beat the Boston College Eagles at Walter Brown Arena. The Eagles got on the board first, 5 minutes into the game, but Lilli Welcke tied things up midway through the first. Her 4th goal of the season and 1st goal at home since October 18th vs. Maine at Agganis. In the second, freshman Kaileigh Quigg gave the Terriers the lead, her 3rd straight game vs. BC with a point—having recorded an assist in each of the two games in November. The Eagles tied things at 2 at 3:40 in the third. Union transfer Riley Walsh secured the Terriers the win, it was her third game winning goal of the season.
Mari Peterson got her 3rd start in a row, stopping 24 of BC’s 26 shots on goal. The Terriers won 26 of 46 faceoffs (56.5%).
On Saturday, the Terriers continued their winning ways at Walter Brown Arena. Sydney Healey opened the scoring midway through the 1st with her team-leading 10th goal of the season, her first at Walter Brown Arena since January 19th, 2024 also vs. Vermont. Vermont got one back shorthanded at 5:10 in the second. A few minutes later, Julia Shaunessy scored her second of the season and first since November 15th vs. BC. The goal put Shaunessy to the top of the Terrier point lead with 16. Luisa Welcke extended the Terriers’ lead with a power play goal in the 3rd, ending a 7 game goal drought dating back to January 10th vs. Vermont. Sydney Healey capped things off with an empty net goal. It secured Healey her third career multi-goal game and second of the season—November 11th, 2024 vs. Merrimack.
Callie Shanahan, after a pair of rough games in her last two times out, returned to form, saving 17 of 18 Catamount shots. It was her 13th time this season allowing 1 or fewer goals.
BU has killed 32 straight penalties dating back to December 6th vs. Maine in Orono, after going a perfect 1-1 and 2-2 on the weekend.
The Terriers 8 home wins this season is their most since recording 11 in 2019-20.

Men’s
New Hampshire (7-2 W)

After a stellar performance at Conte Forum on Saturday, Mikhail Yegorov got the start for his Agganis Arena debut. Quinn Hutson opened the scoring at 1:16 in the first, his first goal against the Wildcats at Agganis since December 3rd, 2022. UNH tied it up on the power play, but Jack Harvey would give the Terriers back the lead just over 2 minutes later. Harvey’s first goal vs. UNH and has recorded a point in all 5 games against the Wildcats that he has played. Along with his assist on Quinn Hutson’s opening goal, Harvey has 3 multipoint games vs. UNH, his most against any opponent.
Shane Lachance scored in the first 28 seconds of the second to extend the Terriers’ lead. The goal ended Lachance’s 9 game goal drought dating back to his Belpot winning goal in Belfast.
Just over a minute into the 3rd, Quinn Hutson recorded his second of the game on an assist from brother Cole. The 4th time this season that Cole has recorded an assist on one of Quinn’s goal. UNH got one back at 2:58. On the power play, Cole Eiserman scored his 15th goal of the season and 14th at Agganis Arena. With the goal Eiserman sets the record for the most goals at Agganis Arena in a season with 14, passing Matt Nieto, who scored 13 in 2012-13. Less than 3 minutes later Quinn Hutson scored his 3rd of the game on the empty net for the Hat Trick. With the trio of goals, Hutson sets a new program record for the most career hat tricks at Agganis Arena with his 3rd. Brandon Svoboda capped off the night with his 4th of the season including Jack Page’s first career point, with an assist on the goal.

The Terriers lead in near all advanced stats categories xG (+1.1), SOG (+10), Shot Attempts (+11), Scoring Chances (+6) and had over 2 minutes more OZone Possession, all this despite losing Puck Battles 45%-55% and Faceoffs 44%-55%.

BU recorded 3 high danger shots (.78 xG) compared to UNH’s 1 (.2 xG)—a single shot on goal save by Yegorov in the 3rd period.
