BU shuts out Providence to move on in the Hockey East Tournament.

After a scoreless first where BU out shot PC 10-6, the Terriers opened the scoring 41 seconds into the 2nd. Sydney Healey scored what ultimately became the game winning goal, her 16th of the season, setting a new career high for goals in the season. It is also her 3rd SHG of the season the most by a Terrier since Jesse Compher also recorded 3 in 2018-19. Only 2 Terriers have scored more in a season: Rebecca Leslie (5) in 2015-16 and Victoria Bach (4) in 2017-18. Healey added an empty netter at 18:01 in the third. Her 8th career multigoal game and 6th at Walter Brown Arena. Maeve Kelly record an assist on each of BU’s first two goals giving Kelly her second multipoint game in as many home games. 20 seconds later, Lilli Welcke sealed things with another empty net goal. Welcke recorded a point in every game she played against the Friars at Walter Brown Arena.
Mari Pietersen records BU's first Hockey East Tournament shutout almost exactly 10 yrs to the day of their last one on Feb 26th, 2016 a 25 save effort by Erin O'Neil vs UVM at Walter Brown (3-0). It is also BU’s 60th shut out win. BU is unbeaten in their last 8 games vs. PC (7-0-1).

For the 5th time this season the #8 Terriers and #1 Huskies will face off. This time in a win or go home playoff game. It is the 2nd straight season they will face the Huskies 5 times. It is also the first time BU will face the NU 4 times at Walter Brown Arena, as NU is unable to host the game even as the higher seed.
The Huskies won 3 of the 4 games this season with the Terriers sole win coming in OT of the Beanpot semifinal at Walter Brown (2-1). Captain Maeve Carey scored her sole goal of the season with the game winner.
NU has lost just 1 game since the Beanpot semifinal (12-1-1), with their sole loss coming to BC on February 15th (0-1 OT) at Bentley Arena.
