Men’s
UMass Amherst (4-2 W)

The Minutemen opened the scoring in the second minute of the first, taking an early lead, then extending their lead to two midway through the second. On the power play, late in the second, Devin Kaplan finally broke the Terriers 102 minute and 15 second, scoring drought with his third of the season. It was Kaplan’s third career goal at the Mullins Center, his most at any arena outside Agganis.
In the third period, the Hutson brothers took control of the game. Cole Hutson tied things up at 8:49 of the period, his third of the season and second outside of Agganis Arena. Just over a minute later, Cole gave the Terriers the lead with a power play and earned the first multi-goal of his career. Brother, Quinn also recorded his first multi-goal game at the Mullins Center when he was a freshman. Speaking of Quinn Hutson, he sealed the game with a goal two and a half minutes after his brother. Quinn’s 5th of the season and second assisted by his brother Cole—October 25th vs. North Dakota.
Cole recorded a point on all four Terrier goals, his first career 4 point game. He becomes the first Terrier to record a point on every BU goal in a game where BU scored 4 or more goals since Chad Krys and Dante Fabbro both recorded 5 points on March 2nd, 2019 vs. Merrimack (5-1 W).
The Terriers were a perfect 3 for 3 on the PK. BU is 4-0 this season when they don’t allow a power play goal. On the power play, the Scarlet and White went 2 for 5, the first time they’ve scored multiple power play goals since November 8th vs. UMass Lowell.
Goalie Mathieu Caron stopped 22 of the Minutemen’s 24 shots, his lowest save total in a win this season.
BU improves to 9-0-1 in the last game of the fall semester since 2014-15. BU ends the first half 9-6-1, the third straight season in which they recorded 9 or more goals in the first half, the longest since an equal span from 2014-15 through the 2016-17 season.
