Terrier men stage a comeback to force overtime and come out with the extra conference point after winning the shootout
The Terriers mid-week matchup with the UConn Huskies ended with a shootout win for BU, giving them a vital 2 points.
Connecticut (2-2 T (SOW))
UConn opened the scoring with a power play goal 2:48 in the first. 10 minutes later, Sascha Boumedienne scored his second of the season, exactly 10 days after his first. The Huskies took the lead back 4 minutes into the third. However, midway through the 3rd, Cole Hutson tied things up with a highlight reel goal, scoring his 10th goal of the season and 5th in the month of February.
After a scoreless final ten of the 3rd, and scoreless overtime period, the teams headed to a shootout to determine the extra point in the league standings. Quinn Hutson scored to open the shootout in round 1. Mikhail Yegorov made the save on UConn’s first attempt. Cole Eiserman’s shot in round 2 trickled between the goalies lead to extend the lead, before Yegorov saved the Huskies second attempt to seal the extra point.
