A big Hockey East awaits the men this weekend with Providence and the women host Vermont
The women (7-13-3, HEA (5th): 5-7-2) host Vermont for a pair, while the men (12-10-1, HEA (3rd): 8-7-0) face Providence in a home-and-home.
Women’s
The Terriers welcome the Catamounts to town (January 23rd/24th, 6 pm / 4pm) for the first two of a trio of games with Vermont.
Vermont
(10-12-4, HEA (T-7th): 4-7-3)
The Terriers begin their post-Beanpot slate with a series with the Vermont Catamounts. The pair at Walter Brown precede and final game at Gutterson Fieldhouse in February.
BU enters on a two game losing streak after falling to Holy Cross (2-4) on Saturday and Harvard (1-2 (OT)) in a heartbreaker in the Beanpot final.
Vermont enters unbeaten in 2026 with 4 wins and 2 shootout wins, including taking 4 of 6 points at home against Maine this past weekend (2-2 (SOW), 2-1 (OT)). Catamounts leading goalscorer, sophomore forward Oona Havana scored the first goal in the first game of the weekend. Havana leads the team with 9 goals. BU enter a pivotal stretch this weekend with a series with one of the top teams, Providence College.
The Terriers enter on a split with UMass Lowell, with each team winning the road game (3-4, 3-0). On Saturday, Mikhail Yegorov shutout the River Hawks for his second shutout of the season and second in as many weekends.
The Friars come in winners of 4 straight and 7 of their last 8. Last weekend, they took 5 of 6 points over the BC Eagles with a pair of 4-3 wins, the first of which in overtime. Sophomore Logan Sawyer scored in each game over the weekend and has a goal in 8 of the Friars last 10 games. Sawyer’s 9 goals is tied for the team lead with John Mustard. Freshman Roger McQueen leads PC with 19 points and is tied with Julius Sumpf for the team lead in assists with 11. Freshman Jack Parsons has taken over the net for the injured Philip Svedebäck, and holds a 2.32 GAA and .917 SV%.
The teams played a trio of games last season with BU winning the series 2-1 after winning both game Agganis. Yegorov recorded his first career shutout on February 15th vs. the Friars.
