Cole-gate (Week 2 Recap)
The men split with Colgate off of a 7 point weekend by the Coles, while the women get swept by the Raiders
The men’s team earn a win and a tie at home vs. Colgate, while the women lose both games in Hamilton, New York.
Women’s
Colgate (1-3 L, 3-4 L)
BU visited Upstate New York on their first road trip of the season and came back empty-handed. In their first ever match-up with the Colgate Raiders, the Terriers were unable to pick up a result.
On Friday night, freshman, Lexie Bertelsen, opened the scoring with her first goal as a Terrier at 7:40 in the first. Colgate tied things up late in the 1st and added another goal in each of the next two periods to earn the 1-3 win. Mari Pietersen saved 28 of 30 shots.
Saturday saw the Terriers fight back stronger. After entering the third period down 2, the Scarlet and White quickly evened things up. Kaileigh Quigg put BU on the board at 2:12 of the third. Her first of the season and first since February 4th vs. Northeastern. Five and a half minutes later, Clara Yuhn got her first of the season to tie things up at 7:48. Her first goal on the road since February 4th vs. Northeastern. Colgate took back the lead at 12:22 before Sydney Healey tied things back up just over a minute later at 13:24. Healey’s first goal vs. an ECAC team on the road. Unfortunately, the Raiders scored again a minute later and the Terriers were unable to complete the comeback again. Goalie Michelle Pasiechnyk did her best to keep the Terriers in the game, saving 38 shots on goal. BU was a perfect 5-5 on the PK and have only allowed 2 PPG on 15 PPO for the season.

Men’s
Colgate (6-2 W, 2-2 T)
Colgate was no match for Cole-Train, Eiserman and Hutson combined for 7 points (4g-3a) in the series.
On Friday night, Cole Hutson opened the scoring in the final minute of the first period, extending his point streak to a career high 7 games. Conrad Fondrk, in his first game for the Terriers after missing the opener due to injury, got his first point as a Terrier with an assist on the goal.
In the second, junior Mick Frechette, playing as a forward, scored his first goal in Scarlet and White, to extend BU’s lead at 5:10 in the period. After a point night against LIU, Ryder Ritchie got his first goal as a Terrier, pushing the lead to 3-0 at 7:03 in the period. Ritchie is the first former CHL player to score a goal at Agganis Arena. On the power play, Cole Eiserman scored his 12th power play goal of his career. It was also the 7th time in their careers and the 2nd straight game this season that the Coles scored in the same game. Colgate finally got on the board at 10:53 in the period.
Midway through the third, Eiserman restored the 4 goal lead with his 2nd power play goal of the game. In the process, he recorded back to back multi-goal games for the first time in his career. Colgate again cut into the Terriers lead at 15:44, but Jonathan Morello sealed the game with a short-handed empty net goal at 16:33. Morello’s first goal as a Terrier.
On Saturday, the Terriers went down 1 midway through the first. At 5:25 in the second, Cole Eiserman tied things up with his 5th goal of the season, his 30th career goal and 23rd at Agganis Arena. Early in the third, Colgate again took the lead at 1:48. A few minutes later, freshman, Jack Murtagh, tied things up with his first of the season. A late BU goal in the third was taken off the board and the game went to overtime. Neither team found the back of the net in OT and the game went to a meaningless shootout that the Terriers won with goals from Cole Eiserman and Jack Harvey along with two stops from Mikhail Yegorov. The tie was BU’s first non-Beanpot non-conference tie since October 18th, 2019 vs. Northern Michigan.
Through 3 games, the Terriers have allowed just 1 PPG on 14 PPO. On the other side, they are 4-13 on the power play.
Other Notes
On Friday night, Cole Eiserman recorded multiple power play goals in the same game for the first time in his career
Jonathan Morello is the first Bruins prospect to score for the Terriers since Ty Gallagher on January 27th, 2023 vs. BC
The Coles’ dual 3 point nights last night was the first time since October 30th, 1993 that multiple Terriers recorded 3+ points in the same game vs. Colgate (Rich Brennan (3), Mike Pomichter (3), Chris O’Sullivan (3))
Cole Eiserman is the fastest Terrier to 5 goals in a season since Mike Pandolfo in 1998-99, who also did it in 3 games
