Closing Out the First Half (Week 10 + 11 Preview)
The women's squad has one final game in Orono and the men's squad has a series against UMass Amherst and an exhibition vs. the USNTDP before both teams take a break for the semester
The women (10-5-1, HEA (1st): 8-2-1) travel to Orono to take on the Maine Black Bears to close out their semester. The men (8-5-1, HEA (5th): 4-2-1) have a home-and-home vs. the UMass Amherst Minutemen before an exhibition with the US National Team Development Program’s U18 team to close out their semesters.
Women’s
The women close out their semester with a visit to Alfond Arena (December 6th, 6 pm) to take on Maine.
Maine
(3-14-0, HEA (8th): 3-8-0)
The Terriers head to Orono to close out the 2024 half of their season, and to close out their season series with the Black Bears. BU swept the first two matchups 2-1 and 2-0. Freshman Lola Reid recorded 3 points in the series, including an assist on both goals in the second game. Callie Shanahan recorded her 2nd shutout of the season against Maine.
Maine enters the game getting swept by #1 Wisconsin Badgers with an aggregate score of 1-15, Lily Fetch, the lone goalscorer for the Black Bears. Maine is led by senior Alyssa Wruble (4-4—8) and the aforementioned sophomore Lily Fetch (4-3—7). Sam Morrison, the lone goalscorer for Maine in game one, as not added to her goal total since then.
BU comes into the game off of a brutal 1-8 loss to the Princeton Tigers. Despite leading in shots on goal and faceoffs, the Scarlet and White were unable to make a dent in the Tiger’s lead nor hold off their onslaught. Lola Reid, the team’s leading scorer (7-6—13) has a had a quiet November, being held pointless for the last 6 games. In that span, Julia Shaunessy has recorded a team high 6 pts, while on a 5 game point streak.

Men’s
The men take on UMass Amherst in a home (December 7th, 6pm, Agganis Arena) and home (December 11th, 7pm, Mullins Center) and the U.S. Under-18 Team in an exhibition (December 13th, 7pm).
UMass Amherst
(7-6-2, HEA (10th): 1-4-2)
The Terriers and Minutemen meet to close out their first semesters with a Saturday-Wednesday set. Last season, the Terriers took 5 of 6 points, winning at Agganis Arena and then winning the shootout in Amherst, with the game winner scored by Quinn Hutson.
The Minutemen come in after a single home game with Army, a 3-1 win. Goals from Francesco Dell'Elce, Cole O’Hara, and Daniel Jenčko. UMass Amherst has earned just 1 win in Hockey East play so far this season, a 5-1 win over Providence. Junior Cole O’Hara leads all Minutemen with 21 points, 1st among Hockey East skaters and 3rd nationally. Aydar Suniev leads the team in goals with 9, tied with Terrier Cole Eiserman for 2nd among Hockey East skaters. In goal, Michael Hrabal has played in 14 of 15 games for the Minutemen, holding a .913 SV% and 2.55 GAA.
BU returns home with trophy in hand, having claimed the Belpot as winners of the 2024 Friendship Four. Co-captain Shane Lachance, the Terriers points leader (7-10—17), recorded the game winner late in the third to secure the title. Lachance enters on a 5 game point streak, recording 8 points in that span. Gavin McCarthy and Tristan Amonte, each return home with a pair of goals on the weekend, with Amonte scoring his first career multi-goal game in his 53 game BU career.
As a freshman, Ryan Greene recorded 5 points vs. the Minutemen at the Mullins Center, just the 2nd Terrier to record 5+ points in a road game since 2002-03. Only three players on the current Terriers team have recorded a point vs. UMass Amherst as Terriers, all are members of the leadership group, co-captain Ryan Greene and assistant captains Quinn Hutson and Devin Kaplan. The trio has combined for 11 goals and 22 points vs. the Minutemen in their BU careers.

USNTDP Under 18 Team
1-10-0 vs. NCAA Teams
The Terriers welcome the United States National Team Development Program Under 18 Team to Agganis Arena for an exhibition to close out the first half. This will be the fourth straight season, that the U18s are making the trip to Agganis. They are winners of 3 straight against the Terriers, with the Terriers last win coming in 2018-19.
The USNTDP are led by Will Moore—a Boston College commit—with 18 points and Jack Murtagh—a future Terrier—with 10 goals and 17 points. The team features four future Terriers, two forwards: Murtagh and Conrad Fondrk, and two defensemen: Carter Amico and Charlie Trethewey.
The current Terriers feature five former members of the program. Senior Jack Hughes, Junior Devin Kaplan, and freshmen Cole Hutson, Cole Eiserman, and Kamil Bednarik.
The freshman trio of U18 products combined for 5 goals and 10 points last season when the USNTDP visited Agganis. That includes a full future Terrier trio opening goal, with Hutson scoring from Eiserman and Bednarik. The Coles scored the USNTDP first 4 goals in a 2-8 by the program.
