Dog Fight in Boston on the Women's side and the Men welcome another Non-Conference Opponent to Agganis
Women’s
The Terriers have another tough pair of games this weekend, returning home after a hard-fought battle in Minneapolis, taking on the Northeastern Huskies in a home-and-home (Oct. 10th 7pm, Matthews Arena / Oct. 11th 3pm, Agganis Arena).
Northeastern
(2-2-0, Hockey East: 0-0-0)
Northeastern opens their Hockey East slate against a Terrier team that currently sits atop the Hockey East standings after their opening night win over Merrimack. The Huskies come into the weekend after splitting series vs. Penn State and Quinnipiac in successive weekends. The Terriers are losers of two straight against Minnesota.
BU is making their first trip to Matthews Arena of the season, with a second visit to the historic rink in February. The Terriers have not left Matthews with a win since January 18th, 2015, when BU Hall of Famer Marie-Philip Poulin scored 2 in the 3-1 win. The Scarlet and White have not recorded a goal in their past 4 games vs. NU at Matthews, a span of 281:14.
Reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Week, Lola Reid comes into the weekend with a team leading 4 points, which is 2nd among all Hockey East rookies. Captain Tamara Giaquinto leads all Terriers with 2 goals and tied for joint most among all Hockey East defenders. The Huskies counter with the league’s top goal and points leader, Skylar Irving.

Union

After an electrifying opener vs. Holy Cross, the Terriers welcome the Union Garnet Chargers to Agganis Arena. Union’s first game against the Terriers since 2019 (7-3 Win at Messa Rink), and first visit to Agganis since 2017 (4-1) which was BU’s one and only regular season game played in the month of September. Union’s sole game this season was a 4-3 OT win over Army.
The top line of Shane Lachance, Ryan Greene, and Quinn Hutson combined for 9 and 2 goals in their team leading 4:28 TOI together. Cole Hutson controlled the puck for a team leading 52 seconds. Union’s top line of Parker Lindauer, Josh Nixon, and Caden Villegas combined for 1 point in their 6:50 TOI together in their opener. Connor Smith leads Union in xG with .72.
