Women’s
Maine (3-1 W)
The Terriers closed out their first half with a 3-1 win over the Maine Black Bears in Orono. After a scoreless first period, Captain Tamara Giaquinto opened the scoring midway through the second with her 4th of the season. The goal ended a 7 game points drought and 9 game goal drought, with Giaquinto scoring her first goal since the last time out vs. Maine on October 19th. Maine tied things up 4 mins later.
In the third, transfer Riley Walsh scored her fifth goal of the season and first in a road Hockey East conference game to give the Terriers the lead. Fellow transfer Maeve Carey assisted on the goal, her first point since October 12th vs. Northeastern, also an assist on a Riley Walsh goal. Lindsay Bochna would seal things with a shorthanded empty net goal. It was Bochna’s first shorthanded goal since February 11th, 2022 vs. UConn as a Providence College Friar.
The Terriers held the Black Bears to 26 shots, with only 14 of those coming in the last two periods. They also held the edge in faceoffs, winning 30 of 53 (56.6%). Led by Alex Law (71.4%) and Lilli Welcke (57.7%). Callie Shanahan put in another stellar performance, saving 25 of Maine’s 26 shots on goal.
The win gives BU their first season sweep of Maine since 2015-16. The Terriers have now won 6 of their last 8 at Alfond Arena—dating back to January 6th 2019—and unbeaten in 7 of their last 8 at the arena.

Midway through the first period, Cole Hutson was ejected after receiving a charging penalty and a game misconduct. The Terriers killed off the penalty.
In the second, Brandon Svoboda also got ejected, after a cross-check and a game misconduct. It was the second time this season that two Terriers received a Game Misconduct in the same game, the first being the season opener vs. Holy Cross on October 5th—Cole Eiserman and Devin Kaplan.
