The Beanpot returns home for the 32nd time, as the Boston University Terriers took down arch-rivals the #1 ranked Boston College Eagles 4-1. Eagles’ Gabe Perreault opened the scoring with his 11th of the season at 6:13 in the first. Unfortunately, it was all that the Eagles could get past Terrier goalie and Eberly Award winner Mikhail Yegorov.
In the second, Brandon Svoboda, scored his 5th of the season and first outside Agganis Arena. Nick Roukounakis recorded his 3rd Beanpot point with an assist on the goal. Half of Roukounakis’ 4 assists this season have been on Svoboda goals. Beanpot MVP Cole Hutson gave the Terriers the lead for good, with his 3rd Beanpot goal and 5th Beanpot point.
Thirteen minutes and fifty-two seconds into the third, Cole Eiserman extended the Terrier’s lead. It was his 16th goal of the season, 15th goal in the City of Boston, and first of those outside Agganis Arena. With Jacob Fowler pulled, Gavin McCarthy scored an empty netter from the other end of the ice to send Terrier Nation into a frenzy. The Boston University claimed their 32nd Beanpot, beating BC in the final for the 13th time, first since 2007.
The Terriers’ win over #1 BC was the first time in the Poll Era (since 1972) that the #1 team in the nation lost a Beanpot final, previously they were 4-0. It was also the Terriers second straight win over a #1 BC team in the Beanpot, beating them in the 2024 semifinal.
Cole Hutson was named Beanpot MVP, the first defenseman to be named Beanpot MVP since Matt Grzelcyk in 2015. Cole recorded 5 points in the tournament (3-2—5) the most by a Terrier Patrick Harper (5) and David Farrance (6) in 2020.
Mikhail Yegorov is the first non-NU goalie to win the Eberly since Jake Oettinger in 2017. Yegorov's .972 save percentage was the best save percentage by an Eberly winner since TJ Semptimphelter (.972) in 2022 in a losing effort for NU vs. BU. He is also the first freshman goalie to lead the Terriers to a Beanpot title win since Kieran Millan in 2009

First to Fourth

After 6 straight Beanpot Championship game appearances, the Northeastern Huskies found themselves in unfamiliar territory, the early game of the Beanpot’s second week. The Huskies opened the scoring when Jack Williams scored his 13th of the season five minutes into the first. In a span of 10 minutes from 16:27 in the 1st to 6:03 into the 2nd, Harvard scored 3 straight power play goals—Mick Thompson, Mason Langenbrunner, Casey Severo—to take the lead over the defending Beanpot Champions. Christophe Tellier—his first since December 6th vs. UNH—got one back for the Huskies. However, Mason Langenbrunner scored his second of the game to restore the Crimson’s two goal lead. Husky Jack Williams book ended the scoring with his 2nd of the game and 14th of the season, but it was not enough to keep NU out of last place.
The win was Harvard first outright 3rd place finish since 2019, after earning a 3rd place tie with Boston College in 2022.
The winners of 5 of the previous 6 Beanpot titles, the Northeastern Huskies ended the tournament with two losses for the first time since 2008.
