Back in the Swing of Things (Week 13 Preview)
Both Terrier teams return to Hockey East action, with the men facing UMass Amherst and the women facing UNH
The men (9-8-1, HEA (3rd): 6-5-0) face the Minutemen in a home-and-home and a one off against Harvard, while the women (6-11-2, HEA (6th): 4-6-2) have a single game at UNH.
Men’s
The Terriers travel to Amherst (January 9th, 7 pm) before hosting the Minutemen at Agganis (January 10th, 6pm) before a Monday night visit to Harvard (January 12th, 7 pm)
UMass Amherst
(9-9-0, HEA (11th): 2-6-0)
Both BU and UMA enter off of wins over Northeastern to end 2025 and wins over Simon Fraser in exhibitions to start 2026.
The Terriers enter their first Hockey East weekend of 2026 winners of 5 of their last 6 including a thriller to close out Matthews Arena (4-3) on December 13th. While the Spengler Cup and World Junior participants were away, the remaining Terriers smashed Simon Fraser in an exhibition 8-2. BU also brings in forward Tynan Lawrence for the second semester, the third straight season they have added a player mid-year following, goalies Mikhail Yegorov (2024-25) and Max Lacroix (2023-24).
The Minutemen have won just 3 games since November 1st, though two of those wins were shutouts—Maine on November 7th (4-0) and Northeastern to close out their first half on December 7th (2-0). In their last game, they crushed Simon Fraser 7-0 in an exhibition. UMass Amherst are led by junior Jack Musa, whose 13 assists and 21 points leads the team. Freshman Václav Nestrašil, leads the team in goals with 10 and is second in points with 20. In net, juniors Jackson Irving (2.75 GAA/.937 SV%) and Michael Hrabal (3.00/.897) have been splitting time.
Cole Eiserman and Cole Hutson lead all Terriers with 4 points each against the Minutemen.

Harvard
(7-5-1, ECAC (5th): 5-3-0)
Despite being the shortest road trip in college hockey, BU makes their first trip to Bright-Landry Hockey center since 2019.
After winning 6 of their first 7, the Crimson has lost 4 of their last 6 (with a game against Dartmouth on Friday). Last weekend saw the Crimson lose to Quinnipiac (1-9) and Princeton (2-3). Against QU, Harvard scored 1:09 into the game before proceeding to allow 9 unanswered goals. Against Princeton, the Crimson came back from down 2 to tie things in the 3rd before giving up the game winning goal with 2 seconds.
The Crimson are led by sophomore Mick Thompson, who holds the team lead in assists (12) and points (16). Senior Philip Tresca leads the team in goals with 7. In net, sophomore Ben Charette has played all but 10 minutes for Harvard with a 3.10 GAA and .901.

Women’s
The Terriers head to Durham for a single game vs. New Hampshire (January 10th, 6pm) before the Beanpot on Tuesday.
New Hampshire
(10-8-3, HEA (5th): 5-5-2)
Ringing the Belpot back from Belfast, the Terriers come into the weekend hot. With just 1 loss in their last 7 (3-1-3). The Terriers come in winners of the Friendship Series after taking down Quinnipiac in a shootout in the semifinal (2-2) and Harvard in the final (3-2). Sydney Healey scored both goals against Quinnipiac, while 3 different Terriers scored vs. Harvard (Riley Walsh, Lilli Welcke, and Neely Nicholson).
New Hampshire opened the second half with a sweep of LIU (4-0, 6-1). The Wildcats have split 4 of 5 Hockey East weekend series this season, with their only weekend sweep coming against Merrimack over Halloween weekend (8-2, 5-2). UNH is led by freshman forward Nina Rossi, whose 14 assists is second among Hockey East skaters and whose 23 points is 3rd. Senior forward Kelly Harty leads the team with 11 goals. In net, junior Sedona Blair has taken the majority of time in net with a 2.05 GAA and .929 SV%.
The series will close out the season series between the team, BU won the first game on October 24th at Walter Brown, their first win of the season. Sydney Healey scored the game winner along with the empty net, both in the third, to seal the win.
