The Brown Bears make their first trip to Walter Brown Arena since November 27th, 2017, opening their season in Boston.
The Terriers enter the weekend losers of 4 straight, with all four losses to top 10 ranked teams. The Scarlet and White showed fight at points in all of their games this season but have been unable to turn those into wins. Sydney Healey leads all Terriers with 3 points and is the only Terrier with more than 1 goal.
Brown is led by sophomore forward Monique Lyons, who led the team last season in goals (14) and points (24). Senior forward India McDadi and junior Sam Broz each recorded 15 assists. McDadi matching a career high. In goal, junior Rory Edwards recorded a .921 SV% and 2.23 GAA. Edwards was 4th in the ECAC in conference SV% with a .927.

Alissa Fromkin recorded the only shutout of Brown in team history, it was also her one and only shutout as a Terrier
Men’s
The men host #3 Michigan State in a big early season test (October 17th / 18th, 7pm). It will be the Spartans’ first visit to Agganis Arena since October 24th, 2014.
Michigan State
(1-1-0)
The Terriers will take on the Michigan State Spartans in what could have been the 2025 Toledo Regional final, however, the Spartans failed to get past Cornell. BU did get past Cornell en route to a trip to the National Championship game.
BU enters undefeated, winning their first two games of the season before tieing Colgate last time out. Coles, Eiserman and Hutson combined for 7 points (4g-3a) over the weekend. Mick Frechette got his first career goal in game one.
Michigan State enters after splitting with UNH (3-4 L, 2-0 W). In game one, freshman Anthony Romani, senior Charlie Stramel, and junior Tommi Männistö scored. Stramel is the top returning scorer for the Spartans (9-18—27). UNH scored with 5 seconds left in the game to sneak out a win. In game two, 2025 NHL Draft 6th overall pick Porter Martone recorded two assists, as did Stramel. Goalie Trey Augustine needed just 13 saves to earn the shutout—his fewest in a full game.
This weekend’s games will be the first between the Terriers and Spartans at Agganis Arena that isn’t tied to a “special event”—their 2008 visit was for the Ice Breaker Invitational and 2014 was part of the Big Ten Hockey East Challenge. It will also be the first matchup between the teams not attached to an event or tournament since the Spartans visit on November 18th, 1989 (6-4 W).
